Current interests, hobbies, passions:

Still working so I don't have a lot of time, yet.
Traveling, working outside, making things, I'm working with rebar right now. camping. Really like getting together with my family and friends.

If you have grandkids, what name do they call you?

No, but it does look like fun.

Whatcha been doin' since '69:

You are really making me think, and it is getting harder all the time. I went to Eastern right after high school, summer quarter. Roomed with Melaine Walker and then Kathy Clark. I also went to Spokane Falls for my Photography degree. I worked many jobs in Spokane, one of them was as some have mention was at KFC, which is funny because I've been a vegetarian for many years. I guess I got my fill. Chuck and I were married on the Little Spokane River in 1976. We lived in Seattle from 1975 till we moved to Port Orchard, (across the water from Seattle) in 1980. Chuck is a teacher for the South Kitsap School Dist. I have had a Photography Studio in Ballard and for now 29 years here in Port Orchard. I have loved owning my own business and working with a great staff. Who knew that big old darkroom at Mead High would have started this. Raising our kids has taken most our time, and I would not have traded it for anything. As a family we love to camp and travel.

Funniest Mead memory:

Well where to start............ really there are so many, what a great time we had.
After I think a football game in the valley I was riding with Walt Kostecka and Roger Libby in Walt's Dad's old truck. The truck had to be doubled clutched to get it in gear, Walt was having trouble, Roger and I were laughing so hard. So the boys bet me I couldn't drive the truck. I told them they had to get out, (most likely because they were bugging me) they did and I drove off and left them.

In journalism class we decided that it would be funny to go out the window and stand on the roof, around the corner so Mr Toutant couldn't find us. He came into the class room and no one was there, he went down the hall way asking if anyone had seen his class. He came back into the room and we were all sitting there. I think I hided in the darkroom for a while after that.

Going to a Shadle Parks basketball game against us and getting kicked out because every time they did the cheer 2 bit 4 bits 6 bits a dollar we yelled sold at 4 bits.

Getting called into the Principles office with Tricia right after a pep assembly, our Jr. year. I don't know why I was called in I wasn't a cheerleader, but there I was. After the principle closed the curtains between his office and the hallway Tricia was told she could go. Then he told me one of us would have to go. He left the next year, just happened it had nothing to do with me. It was all over a cheer that he had been told was my idea, I really can't remember if it had been. It went like this.... nuts and bolts we got screwed.

This one isn't funny but a happy time. When Judy Swanson became Lilic Queen. The little school in the hicks had a queen. I can't buy a lilic tree with out thinking of Judy, she did us proud.

Fellow classmate you were fondest of (and why):

I really can't think of any of you that I wasn't fond of, Really.
My best girl friends were, Tricia, Judy, Bull Durham (Ann), Kyle, Kathy, Gayle, Melaine, Dia, Vic and Val.
In Sports, you really couldn't stop Vicki, Kathy, Julie, and I'm sorry if I missed you I can't remember who else. We had a great time together. It is to bad girls sports weren't as they are today.
The Guys hands down Walt, Roger and Tim. Walt raised two pigs and named them Laura and Flora. When they butcher them he asked me over for dinner. Maybe thats why I don't eat meat anymore......
I was very sad to see that Vicki Stueve had passed. She was one of my favorites. She had such a warm heart, gentle but yet so funny. I can still see her coming down the hall to ball practice with a big grin on her face.

Teacher who made the greatest impact on you.

Mr Toutant for his understanding of kids at that age. He kept his humor, and we never forgot who was the boss.

Our Germany Teacher, I can't remember his name. As I have gotten older and looked back, what he must have gone through. To have gone through the war, have shell shock and try to teach teenagers, oh boy.
